2016 - 'A Promising Year'

Sat 13 Feb 2016

Leading estate agents DB Roberts say that 2016 has got off to a strong start, with signs that the property market will be particularly busy.

DB Roberts say that the first half of January has been exceptionally busy across all of the firm’s 8 branches, with both buyers and sellers being very active. A spokesperson said: ‘Helped by fair weather, we began to see an uplift in enquiries between Christmas and New Year, and since then it’s just got busier and busier. Not only have our telephone and on-line enquiries gone through the roof, but footfall into our branches is really healthy.

‘Our valuers saw a large number of properties in the last quarter of 2015 where owners were considering selling, but wanted to delay their decision until the New Year. A high proportion of those clients have now come onto the market, encouraged by our exceptionally attractive commission terms.

As a result, our property stock includes many new instructions which is attracting exceptional numbers of new prospective buyers to register with us and start viewing properties. We have noticed that many buyers are taking advantage of our on-line presence to search for property; what is particularly striking is that the majority of applicants are now searching for a property from tablets and other mobile devices – which our website automatically recognises and optimises to suit each customer.

Last year, around 25,000 phone calls were handled by our in-house staff during early mornings, late evenings and over weekends when our competitors are closed. This means we can arrange viewings and valuations and take offers at times to suit our clients lifestyles.

Summarising, DB Roberts Chairman said:

‘2015 was a good year for DB Roberts; we sold twice as many properties than in 2012 and it was our best year for sales since 2008. We have significantly improved our on-line and out of hours services and seen major developments in our financial services and conveyancing offerings. To meet anticipated business levels, DB Roberts are actively recruiting both telephone and branch based estate agency staff at all levels and seeking additional financial advisors, both employed and self-employed. In our view, 2016 is going to be very positive for us.
