The property market remained remarkably strong and resilient throughout last year, despite the challenges of the pandemic. Historically low-interest rates, the release of pent-up demand after Brexit and the Stamp Duty Holiday pushed house prices up by an astonishing 8.5% according to a recent BBC News article.
So what property market insights can we share as 2021 gets underway? The end of the Help to Buy scheme (for everyone but first-time buyers) and the March Stamp Duty Holiday deadline will inevitably result in some market cooling. Property nevertheless remains an excellent prospect for investors. This year Rightmove forecasts a 4% average increase in property prices across the UK.
How house prices have changed in your region
What are this year’s hot properties?
After the lockdown experience, this year’s buyers and renters are looking for homes that meet all their lifestyle needs. They want flexible properties with enough room for work, hobbies and home exercise, as well as easy access to green, open spaces.
Here are some outstanding properties to consider if you are looking for a great family home or a promising investment.
Start your own business in the countryside
This gorgeous barn conversion comes with ready-made business premises in the form of a detached commercial unit, further detached workshop and a paddock. Situated in a lovely rural location with far-reaching views, this stunning, three bedroom family home in Yarlet really has the wow factor. The property offers plenty of space to install a home gym, get creative with hobbies or even keep llamas or horses! On sale at £700,000.
Enjoy woodland walks from this detached bungalow
This spacious, three bedroom home, within easy reach of Newport’s busy market town, would be ideal for a family or a couple needing extra space: perhaps a home office or hobby room? Situated in Muxton, Telford, the bungalow stands on a generous plot, overlooking farmland at the rear and close to some lovely woodland walks, great for exercise and fresh air. On sale at £420,000.
Characterful barn conversion with a handy annexe
Exposed timber beams, beautiful garden, great location … there is so much to love about this gem of a property near the village of Ford. With five bedrooms, three bathrooms and two receptions, there’s no shortage of space here, while the annexe would make a great home office, hobby space or accommodation for an elderly relative. The rural location provides opportunities for some lovely country walks or riverside strolls along the nearby River Severn. On sale at £580,000.
Property market activity may be a little slower this year, but homes with desirable features in sought-after locations will continue to be snapped up by eager buyers.
