Shrewsbury Summer of Music 2026

📍 The Bandstand, Quarry Park 📅 Running every weekend from May until Sunday, 23rd August 2026 (14:00 - 16:00)

If you are looking for a relaxing, free afternoon out, Shrewsbury Town Council's Summer of Music is the perfect choice. This year features an expanded programme with free live music performances taking place on both Saturdays and Sundays at the Quarry Bandstand. Ranging from brass bands and male voice choirs to saxophone quartets, all you need to do is pack a picnic, grab a camping chair, and enjoy the beautiful riverside setting. 

Shrewsbury International Comedy Festival 2026

📍 Across Shrewsbury 📅 Wednesday, 8th July 2026, 19:00 - Sunday, 12th July 2026, 23:00

The Shrewsbury International Comedy Festival brings together established comedians, emerging talent, and work-in-progress shows for several days of stand-up, improv, and comedy panel events across venues around the town.

This year's programme includes everything from touring comedians testing new material to mixed-bill showcase nights and audience-led improv, with events taking place at Theatre Severn, Morris Hall, The Hive, and The Old Post Office.

Shrewsbury Classic Car Festival

The Shrewsbury Classic Car Festival is back for its 10th year, and it’s bigger and bolder than ever. Whether you're a lifelong petrolhead or just looking for a fantastic family Sunday, this is the place to be. Featuring a display of over 300 vehicles from across the West Midlands and beyond. It is a dedicated event for enthusiasts to appreciate a wide range of local motoring history. Admission: A £5 donation for exhibitors and attendees costs £2 for adults and under 16's Free.

Dragon Boat Festival 2026

📍Pengwern Boat Club 📅Saturday, 18th July 2026, 08:00 - Sunday, 19th July 2026, 16:00

The Dragon Boat Festival is back on the River Severn! Teams will race head to Dragon’s Head along the picturesque stretch from Kingsland Bridge to Pengwern Boat Club. This thrilling event, featuring 40ft dragon boats and teams of 16-20 rowers, is a spectacle you won’t want to miss. 

Battle of Shrewsbury Medieval Festival 2026

📍Battlefield 1403 📅Saturday, 25th July 2026, 10:00 - Sunday, 26th July 2026, 17:00

Over the anniversary weekend of the Battle of Shrewsbury, visitors will head back to the medieval period with the battlefield coming back to life. During this family day out, there will be the chance to see knights in armour and archers preparing for battle with a variety of activities to try your hand at throughout the day.

Shrewsbury Folk Festival 2026

Shrewsbury Folk Festival combines a stellar line-up of folk, world music and Americana and slick production with a “warm and welcoming” vibe, making it one of the most sought-after tickets for August Bank Holiday weekend.

Coracle World Championships 2026

📍 Pengwern Boat Club, Kingsland 📅 Friday, 11th September 2026 - 12:00 PM to 19:00 PM

Undoubtedly one of the quirkiest and most entertaining events in the UK, the Coracle World Championships are back on the River Severn! Watch as up to 48 teams of four attempt to paddle traditional, circular coracle boats in a hilarious relay race across the river. Many teams compete in brilliant fancy dress, making for a fantastic spectator atmosphere. Even better, the entire event is run to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Hot food, refreshments, and a bar will be available on-site, followed by an after-race party at The Boat House pub.
